Dear Otter Creek Family,
I want to remind you about an upcoming gathering that will challenge and inspire you. On October 25th and 26th the ZOE GROUP will lead a conference at Otter Creek Church. This conference is about worship, challenging teaching, and understanding God's work in the world today. If you love powerful worship, this is an opportunity go deeper and meet new friends. We will have church leaders from all over the U.S. present for this and we'd love to have a strong representation from our OC family. Please click HERE for more information/registration. Our family has been part of the ZOE GROUP since 2006--it is a rich resource for understanding and experiencing the kingdom in every day life.
This past Sunday, I continued our series, Divinity and Dust, by wrestling with the truth that Jesus (and Paul!) were both committed to a single life and that their commitment to this particular life is an important message for everyone who is part of the local church. In the local church we can easily allow the family to become an idol. While the family is important, it's not as important as the local church. In our culture, we use the phrase "blood is thicker than water" but in the Gospels, Jesus makes it clear that water (our baptism) is thicker than our blood (family DNA).
I pray that your family (biological and spiritual) is strengthened and renewed this week. Walk in courage and faith. Do not be afraid. Live boldly and with great joy.
Peace,
Josh Graves
