Spiritual formation retreats, camps, and getaways have a long history of being an important part of the OC family growing to be more like Jesus.
Join us on this journey as we watch and see what God will do.
After months of prayer, discernment, and dreaming, we officially signed the paperwork to close on the retreat property! As the ink was drying, we gathered in prayer to ask God to bless the thousands of lives that will encounter Christ’s presence on those sacred acres for generations to come. Over the coming months, the property will be bustling with ministry and life. We’ll be welcoming the groups already on the calendar as well as hosting several OC ministries. And while all of that is happening, we’ll also begin developing plans to expand the facilities so that one day we can host camps and even more spiritual formation experiences. Jamon and Michelle Martin have joyfully accepted the invitation to join the OC staff to serve as ministry leaders for the retreat property and we are thrilled! We are overflowing with gratitude for the ways God is blessing our church. We cannot wait to see how this retreat property will become a place of transformation, renewal, joy, and formation—continuing Otter Creek’s rich heritage of helping people become more like Jesus.
The acquisition of the retreat property is progressing smoothly. Inspections are well underway across buildings, wells and pumps, septic systems, vehicles/equipment, and environmental factors. In addition to thoroughly examining all the existing attributes of the property, we are also thinking ahead to our future use of the property for retreats and camps. Hickman County has approved our intended use for the property, and we’re partnering with a civil engineering firm on septic and water plans that will go to the county for approval.
We remain on track to close on November 17.
Even ahead of closing, ministries are already dreaming and sketching out events. This property represents a significant opportunity for spiritual formation and community building—for the OC family and our ministry partners. Thank you for your prayers and support!Various OC Leaders were able to share a dinner at the retreat property to tour the facilities and learn more about the vision for this new ministry. These leaders included shepherds, staff, Retreat Vision Team members, Retreat Implementation Team members, Various ministry leaders, Finance Team members, and some members who have experience with site planning and facilities. It was a great night to pray and dream about the future!
