High School Ministry

David Rubio - Director of Student Ministries/High School Youth Minister

Calling ALL High Schoolers:  WooHoo!! It’s time for another great year of Covenant Groups!  We will begin meeting in September and more details will be coming soon.

New to the OCYG?!?  The Covenant Group ministry exists to build lasting peer & mentoring God-Relationships in the life of every student in the OCYG.  It is a cornerstone ministry of this youth group.  Each small group is gender & grade specific & meets twice/monthly throughout the school year in member host homes…and is led by at least two committed & spiritually mature adult leaders.  Get ready to build relationships that - because of the foundation built on the Word of God, prayer, encouragement, burden sharing & genuine community - will last a lifetime!

OCYG - High School Ministry

“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
Deuteronomy 6:5-7

At Otter Creek, we LOVE teenagers! We are committed to giving our high school teens the opportunity to make us proud as they live, grow, serve, and love together. For decades, the OCYG (Otter Creek Youth Group) ministry has provided families and teenagers with focused, inter-generational, and Biblical opportunities to mature and grow. In 2011, in order to better meet the changing needs of a growing group, OCYG began meeting as two separate groups: the middle school and high school ministries.

The Mission of the OCYG is to partner with parents in the process of developing mature disciples of Christ through Worship, Community, and Service. In order to carry out this mission, our High School Ministry will employ any means necessary inside OR outside “the box” including, but not restricted to: Bible teaching, mission trips, summer camp, retreats, service and leadership opportunities, small groups and mentoring relationships.

How to Get Involved

Ask yourself the following: Do I love God? Do I love teenagers... and am I called to work with them? Am I living a lifestyle that is consistent with the principles of Scripture? Am I flexible and easy going? Does the word “Interlude” make me want to do the “Ninja Robot?” If you answered yes to all (or most) of these questions, give me a shout. I definitely want to talk to you about being a part of this life-changing ministry!

Are you a parent or teen wanting to plug in? Send me an e-mail/text and I’ll make sure you get connected — OR just show up for class in the Gym this Sunday morning — we would LOVE to meet you!
