The Digital Side-Hug: Dr. Robert Epstein (The Problem of Infantilization & the Myth of Control)

November 09, 2014 | David Rubio

Dr. Robert Epstein, former editor of Psychology Today, current professor at the University of the South Pacific and one of the most quoted psychologists in America, joins David via Skype to talk about his heart for teens and the thesis of his controversial book "Teen 2.0: Saving our Children and Families from the Torment of Adolescence”.  In it, Dr. E dares to imagine the possibility that some teens can be trusted to make decisions for themselves in a culture that doesn’t seem ready for that.  After talking about the dark side of Google, the science of love and the theory of plate tectonics, Dr. Epstein shares the story of how Teen 2.0 came to be written and urges parents and pastors to give up on the idea of trying to control the teens in their lives.
