We are thinking about "gospel" at Otter Creek. What is it? What threatens it? Why does it matter? I fear that we have forgotten the core gospel. It gets covered up with religious stuff. It gets ignored in the press of daily life. It becomes an afterthought in the life of the church.
Which is a shame. For it is the gospel that defines us, shapes our priorities, identifies our central beliefs, and tells us our essential mission. Without a firm grasp on gospel, we forget what we're really about and what's worth fighting for. When we forget the gospel, we forget ourselves.
Do you know the gospel? Do you understand the key ideas that save you and sanctify you? Do you trust that gospel ... to be all you need ... without addition or subtraction? It is the contours of this gospel we are exploring together as a church. We hope you will join us as we talk about this critical subject.

Spiritual formation is a rather general term referring to all attempts, means, instructions, and disciplines intended towards deepening of faith and furtherance of spiritual growth. In other words it's our feeble attempt to 'plug-in'.
