An in-depth look at the difficult but rewarding letter of Hebrews
Luke's Jesus, Josh Graves - Room 211
A detailed study of Luke's telling of the Jesus story Note: This class is open to the first 30 people who have signed up and will have homework and extra responsibility.
The Priest in All of Us, The Peace and Justice Ministry - Room 206
Discussion about the local/global dimension of pursuing justice and service in our spiritual journey
Spiritual Inventory, Bill & Kelly Harlin, David Shaub - Room 205
Self-reflective discussion of the habits, hurts, and hang-ups that cause us to stumble on our spiritual journey.
Financial Peace University, Ben Forrest - Room 206
This class will meet at 3 PM on Sunday afternoons at the Otter Creek building beginning February 21st for 13 weeks, This class has a specific focus for dealing with debt, creating and keeping a budget, and an overall approach to your household finances. A preview class will be offered on February 7th.

Foundations 2009

Foundations Classes were designed for those who wish to learn more about Otter Creek and also those wishing to place membership at Otter Creek. There are three classes (they can be taken in any order, but all are requested for membership).

Foundations 100 (offered six times this year) is a luncheon following worship that allows us to talk a bit about the character of Otter Creek – its history, personality, beliefs and mission and is lead by the Senior Minister. This class offers you a chance to meet the shepherds and staff of OCC.

Foundations 101 covers issues like baptism, worship, marriage and divorce. One of our shepherds will lead this class and it will rotate during 2008 (some Wednesday nights, some Sunday mornings).

Foundations 102 is more practical – covering ministries, budgets, giving, capital campaigns, life groups and opportunities for and expectations of members. This class is lead by a Ministry Coordinator and the Director of Ministries and will also rotate (some Wednesday nights, some Sunday mornings).

Where Can I Plug In?

In writing to the Galatians, the Apostle Paul wrote “I am in pains until Christ is formed in you.” (Gal. 4.19)

So, what does spiritual formation entail?

Spiritual formation is a rather general term referring to all attempts, means, instructions, and disciplines intended towards deepening of faith and furtherance of spiritual growth. In other words it's our feeble attempt to 'plug-in'.

This includes educational endeavors, small groups, and acts of service, as well as the more intimate and in-depth processes of spiritual direction or guidance. For more information see the ministries box above or click here!
